Giving Up vs. Surrendering

What's the difference between giving up and surrendering?
Giving up means you will no longer do your best and will no longer expect a specific great outcome. Surrendering means that you will continue to do your best, but will no longer be expecting a specific great outcome. You realize that the world works in mysterious ways that no one can predict, but welcome all experiences, knowing everything will work out in it's own way, in it's own time.
